Some of us began dancing at an early age, while others may have started a bit later in life. Either way all of us are consumed with a passion to praise God in motion ministry. Here are some basic tips about choreographing a dance that I find helpful to keep in mind.

* Prayerfully choose a song. Really listen to the words and not just the tone and rhythm.
* Consider your skill level and the skill level of the group you are choreographing for, then work to enhance the skills of the group as a whole. We can all get better
* Simplify. It doesn’t need to be complicated to be beautiful. If you can’t do splits in the air yet, consider a pointed extension on the ground.
* Split the dancers up, and have different parts to add dynamics into your choreography. This is also especially helpful when you have a variety of skill levels in your group.
* Remember stillness is also a motion, and can have great impact in a piece of choreography.

These are just a few tips of mine that I thought I’d share. What are some helpful tips that you have in choreographing for your group?
