It doesn’t need to be complicated to be beautiful.

Sometimes over choreographing can be a distraction. We tend to want to interpret and create motion for every beat, every syllable, every word, in a song. Often when we do that we end up with a jumbled mess. There are so many movements all the congregants see are flying arms and legs and quite often the interpretation we are trying to get across is completely lost. It is okay to simplify. Choose the one motion that will convey the essence of the song. Let an arm motion linger, slow down a turn. Stand still. Add variety throughout the dance by varying the tempo and rhythm of your moves.
