As dance ministers, we can overextend ourselves easily. Accepting every ministry opportunity as if it were the last invitation we would ever receive, and either burning out trying to do everything we committed to, or injuring ourselves with over exertion, or even breaking our word. All of this can be resolved by taking the time to pray before we say yes. Just because we are invited does not mean we need to participate. It is ok to say not at this time, but we are in agreement with the success of your program or venture. True opportunities in ministry, will come again. Our bodies need rest. When we have overextended ourselves, we tend to have more physical injuries. By not over committing ourselves, we allow our bodies to recuperate. And if we must break our word and simply cannot complete the task or participate, own up to it. It is far better to inform the organization or ministry you have committed to that you will not participate, than to be a no show at a dance concert where everyone is a witness to your broken word. If the concert etc, must go on without you, let it be done decently.
